مقدمه: اتنوبوتانی مطالعه کاربرد سنتی و محلی گیاهان مناطق مختلف توسط افراد محلی و فرهنگ‌های مختلف است. هدف آن توصیف روابط میان فرهنگ‌ها و گیاهان با تمرکز بر چگونگی استفاده از آنها می‌باشد. افراد محلی و سالخوردگان هر منطقه اغلب اطلاعات زیادی در مورد کاربردهای سنتی گیاهان دارند. هدف: هدف این پژوهش معرفی مهم‌ترین گونه‌های گیاهی دارویی شهرستان ابهر و کاربردهای آنها در درمان‌های سنتی است. روش بررسی: پس از بررسی منطقه، گفت‌و‌گو با افراد مطلع بومی و دریافت اطلاعات محلی، گیاهان دارویی شهرستان ابهر طی سال‌های 95-94 جمع‌آوری شد و با شناسایی علمی آنها نام فارسی، نام محلی و اندام‌های مورد استفاده، خواص دارویی و نحوه استفاده نیز تعیین شد. نتایج: یافته‌های تحقیق حضور 71 گونه گیاهی دارویی متعلق به 29 خانواده را نشان می‌دهد. خانواده‌های Asteraceae، Fabaceae و Lamiaceae با 11، 10 و 8 گونه، به‌‌ترتیب مهم‌ترین خانواده‌های گیاهی دارویی در منطقه مورد مطالعه هستند. مهم‌ترین کاربردهای دارویی گیاهان شهرستان ابهر در درمان ناراحتی‌های گوارشی (93/54 درصد) است. همچنین استفاده به شکل‌های دم‌کرده و جوشانده (06/76 درصد) یا به صورت عصاره (03/38 درصد) بیشترین مورد کاربرد را دارد. نتیجه‌گیری: وجود 71 گونه گیاه دارویی با استفاده‌های متنوع آنها توسط افراد بومی در درمان بیماری‌ها در شهرستان ابهر نشان‌دهنده ارزش طب سنتی در این منطقه می‌باشد که حفظ و توسعه این دانش بومی می‌تواند در درمان مناسب‌تر، کم هزینه‌تر و با عوارض جانبی کمتر برخی بیماری‌ها نقش بسزایی داشته باشد. همچنین آموزش مردم محلی جهت حفاظت از این گنجینه‌های عظیم طبیعی و اجتناب از برداشت بی‌رویه گیاهان دارویی امری ضروری به‌نظر می‌رسد.
