مقدمه: جنس شنبلیله (Trigonella L.) یکی از جنس‌های شناخته شده خانواده بقولات است که در سراسر جهان می‌رویند. این گیاهان علاوه بر مصارف غذایی دارای خواص دارویی از جمله کاهش‌دهنده چربی و قند خون، ضد باکتری، ضد زخم و ضد درد می‌باشند. هدف: مطالعه تنوع صفات اگرو- مورفولوژیکی، ترکیبات تقریبی و ترکیبات فنولیک اندام هوایی برخی گونه‌ها و خویشاوندان جنس شنبلیله بومی ایران برای معرفی گونه برتر جهت استفاده در برنامه‌های اصلاحی انجام شده است. روش بررسی: نمونه‌های بذر M. orthoceras ،M. monspeliaca ،M. monspeliaca ،M. monantha ،M. crassipes ،T. spruneriana ،T. foenum-graecum، T. filipes، T. elliptica، T. astroides و  M. phrygia از مناطق مختلف ایران جمع‌آوری و در شرایط زراعی یکسان کشت شدند. صفات مورفولوژیکی با خط کش، کولیس دیجیتال و ترازو اندازه‌گیری شد. ترکیبات تقریبی (رطوبت، خاکستر، فیبر، پروتئین، چربی و کربوهیدرات) و اسیدهای فنولیک اندام هوایی به ترتیب با روش AOAC و HPLC تعیین شد. نتایج: تفاوت‌های مورفولوژیکی معنیداری بین گونه‌های مورد مطالعه مشاهده شد. بیشترین محتوای پروتئین در  M. orthoceras (%13/4 ± 0/4)  و پس از آن T. filipes (%11/5 ± 0/8)، و T. spruneriana (%11/1 ± 0/4) اندازه‌گیری شد. محتوای فیبر بین 0/04 ± 0/7 % تا 0/4 ± 4/9 % بود. عصاره گونه‌های مورد مطالعه، ترکیبات کاتچین، کلروژنیک اسید، پارا کوماریک اسید به وفور (0/7 ± 69/32 تا 0/05 ± 0/01 میلی‌گرم بر گرم وزن خشک) یافت شدند. نتیجه‌گیری: دو گونه T. filipes و T. spruneriana می‌توانند به عنوان گونه‌های مناسب برای بهره‌برداری در سیستم‌های کشاورزی، صنایع غذایی و دارویی انتخاب شوند.
